How YOU can help raise funds and awareness for breast cancer this month
1. J. McLaughlin “Think Pink” Sip & Shop
On October 20, J. McLaughlin will donate 15% of all sales from their location at The Summit to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama. Patrons will also enjoy complimentary sparkling water, Prosecco and light bites while they shop.

2. Pink Up The Pace 5K
Join the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama for the 5th annual Pink Up the Pace 5K and 1-Mile Dolly Dash Fun Run presented by Vulcan Materials Company! Pink Up The Pace features a 5K and 1-mile fun run open to runners and walkers of all ages. After the event, stick around for refreshments, beer and wine for adults and field activities including face painting, a petting zoo and an inflatable obstacle course.

Want to support research while letting your community know that you’re passionate about the fight against breast cancer? The Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama’s “Breast Cancer Research” specialty license plate is perfect for you.
Available for cars, trucks, motorcycles and boats, this tag is a great way to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer research in our state – 100% of funds received go to local research!
Breast cancer screenings—what they are and where you can get one
The goal of screening exams for early breast cancer detection is to find cancers before they start to cause symptoms—this can help find cancer at its early stage. When abnormal tissue or cancer is found early, it may be easier to treat.

Forge Breast Cancer Survivor Center helps survivors create their own survivorship plan, match with a peer who has “been there, too,” find free professional mental health counseling and transportation resources to get to medical appointments, connect with a support group and so much more.

The UAB Next Steps Breast Cancer Clinic offers specialized follow-up care focused on the unique needs of breast cancer patients. The goal of the clinic is to help each survivor stay as healthy as possible and to prevent problems from happening or catch them early, when they are most easily treated.
Care is provided by a nurse practitioner with expertise in breast cancer care and survivorship matters. The long-term care that the clinic provides allows patients to discuss their cancer treatment, their health and ways to stay as healthy as possible after breast cancer.
