“Professor Randall Kennedy’s outspoken approach to perplexing racial and social issues provides a valuable perspective. As a member of the Birmingham-Southern College Board of Trustees, it’s a privilege to host and welcome Kennedy to BSC. I look forward to his view on the complex social issues we are currently facing and his outlook on the future.”

A big event for students of the Harrison Honors Program

“Randall Kennedy is one of the foremost legal scholars in the nation, a careful student of the civil rights era, and a prolific author. On matters of race, Randall Kennedy demands thinking over feeling. His views on race are temperate, sometimes contentious, and often right. His talk will set the bar high for all future Honors Convocations at BSC.”

Dr. William Hustwit, Associate Professor of History and Director of the Harrison Honors Program, Birmingham-Southern College

Randall Kennedy’s presentation is made possible by the generosity of the Harrison family. In 2008, the BSC Honors Program became the Donald C. Harrison Honors Program in recognition of a generous endowment given by cardiologist and past president of the American Heart Association Dr. Donald C. Harrison, a 1954 graduate of Birmingham-Southern College, and his wife Laura M. Harrison.
