FC Birmingham (FCB) was founded in 2020 as an organization to showcase the amazing talent we have here in the Birmingham area on a national stage. The organization, now entering its third season, gives local players an opportunity to be developed into professional athletes and live their dreams.

“Many of our first team players played in high schools and soccer clubs here in the metro area. We have graduates from Homewood, Hoover and more. There is a ton of talent in this area that we are happy to showcase on a national level with the semi professional environment.”

FC Birmingham’s home opener is this weekend against the Seas Jamaica All Stars. Here are the deets:

“The team has been training so hard all preseason long and has stepped up the intensity in their preparation this week for the home opener.  Our opponent, Seas Jamaica All Stars, is a great team but we have put in the work and on Saturday, the fans will get to see the result of that effort.”

Deleon “Trey” Fancher, General Manager, FC Birmingham

Looking forward to the season

According to the organization’s owner, Doug Walk, the team is ready for the season and excited to get started.

“We worked so hard in the off-season to get everything ready. There is so much work that goes into preparing everything, from our GM to the coaches to the players themselves. So to finally get to play at home in front of our fans is so exciting for us. Our motto is “Our Club, Our City” and it truly makes a difference when our players get to interact with the great people in Birmingham.”

The team is led by former professional soccer player Head Coach Carlos Mercado.

More about the organization
