Discover art classes for all ages

Art for Children ages 6-8

• What: Students will work with paint, graphite, clay, glass and paper to make works of art. Students will be encouraged to develop their own styles and experiment with different methods to hone their skills.
• Cost: $275 (includes supplies)

  • Session A: Mondays | August 22-October 10 | 3:30-5PM

• What: Students will focus on building their art portfolio. Students will hone their technical skills in drawing, painting, mixed media and sculpture.

Improve your painting skills

Painting: Acrylics

• What: Students 18+ will paint with acrylics and learn about color theory, color mixing, creating compositions and painting techniques. Students will leave with multiple paintings.
• Cost: $285 (includes supplies)

Painting: Watercolors

• What: Students 18+ will paint with watercolors. They will learn about color theory, color mixing, creating compositions and painting techniques. Students will create multiple paintings.

Make your own masterpiece

Stained Glass: Copper Foil

• What: Students 18+ will learn the basics of cutting and refining glass pieces to create a beautiful stained glass window. This is a class for beginners, but more experienced students who need a refresher course may take this class.
• Cost: $325 (includes supplies)

Pottery: Hand-Building & Wheel-Throwing

• What: Students 18+ will explore methods of hand-building, wheel-throwing, glazing and decorating pottery. This is a beginner class, but more experienced students may take the class. Students will purchase their own clay and basic tools but should wait to purchase clay until after the first class.

Learn music skills at the Academy

With over 50 years in instruction, the Academy is a premier music instruction program for the Birmingham community. Students of all ages study repertoire, technique and theory in the disciplines of piano, cello, violin and voice. Private instruction is supplemented by frequent recitals and special events. Students can choose from the following classes:

Planning a trip and need to brush up on your Spanish, French or Italian? The Academy offers refresher courses on speaking, writing, listening and reading skills in these languages. PLUS, they have a professional staff to train students in English as a second language. These classes provide instruction for all levels:
