Looking for yummy breakfast burritos in Birmingham? We’ve got you covered with some of the tastiest options ranging from taco trucks to breweries. Keep reading for the delish details, listed in no particular order.

1. Monday Night Brewing

According to national digital publication Far & Wide, Monday Night Social Club’s breakfast burrito is one of the top 30 in the U.S. This breakfast burrito features chorizo, scrambled egg, house made guacamole, pico de gallo, fried potatoes and Colby-Jack cheese. It’s only served on Saturdays and Sundays during brunch, so plan accordingly.

2. Dos Hermanos

Dos Hermanos is one of the tastiest spots for Mexican food in the greater Birmingham area. You can only find their breakfast options, breakfast tacos and breakfast burritos in their downtown location. Enjoy your burrito filled with chorizo, scrambled eggs, queso fresco, avocado, sour cream, onion and cilantro.

Pro tip: Bring cash.

3. University Tacos

University Tacos has a full menu of delicious options (including my favorite chicken tinga tacos in Birmingham) and some of the most fantastic breakfast burritos in Birmingham.

There are plenty of options to choose from, including:

  • Robert’s burrito—eggs, black beans, grilled onions, bell peppers, shredded cheese, pico de gallo, chorizo + choice of meat
  • Breakfast burrito—eggs, shredded cheese, tomato, grilled onions, bell peppers + choice of meat
  • Egg burrito—eggs, shredded cheese, tomato, grilled onion + bell pepper
  • Power burrito—eggs, shredded cheese, grilled onions, bell peppers, pico de gallo, spinach, ranch potatoes + choice of meat

I don’t know about you, but trying each of these burritos is a challenge I’m personally willing to take on.

4. Rojo

One of the selling points for my apartment was the fact that it’s a short walk from Rojo, a Highland Park restaurant with a large brunch menu. Choose a breakfast burrito with eggs, rice, black beans, jalapeño sausage, queso and pico de gallo, or go for a vegetarian option with eggs, potatoes and peppers.

5. Tacos La Tia Paisa

Located on Valley Ave, Tacos La Tia Paisa offers amazing breakfast burritos. You can choose from multiple burrito options with combinations of beans, cheese, chorizo, eggs, bacon and more.

6. Black Market Bar and Grill

Anyone else craving a breakfast burrito now? (Black Market Bar & Grill)

You can find one of my favorite brunch dishes ever at Black Market Bar and Grill—the waffle-fried chicken bites—and now what’s next on my list is their breakfast monster burrito. It includes egg, sausage, bacon, potato and cheese.

7. El Barrio

While you’re eating your breakfast burrito, why not try some of the best nachos in Alabama? (Pat Byington / Bham Now)

El Barrio is a Bham Now favorite—shoutout to Account Executive Jessica Broom who goes at least once a week. Start your brunch with a mixed drink, then get the A.M. burrito with scrambled eggs, bacon, black beans, peppers, cheese, hatch chile gravy and crema.

8. FIVE Birmingham

Want one of the tastiest breakfast burritos in Birmingham? Head to FIVE in Lakeview. One of just five items on the menu, the breakfast burrito includes sausage, bacon, eggs, onions, peppers, queso, pico de gallo and hashbrowns on the side.

9. The Purple Onion

The Purple Onion, a Birmingham-based Mediterranean restaurant with multiple locations, offers a full menu for everything from early morning dishes to late night snacks.

The menu includes ten breakfast burrito options, including:

  • California burrito—eggs, guacamole, hash browns + cheddar cheese
  • Good morning burrito—eggs, steak, onions, pepper + cheddar cheese
  • Hawaiian burrito—eggs, ham, pineapple + cheddar cheese
  • Veggie purple burrito—eggs, onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, tomato + cheddar cheese

The California burrito is calling my name.
