At TWG 2022, skydivers will be competing in what is called canopy piloting. Basically, it’s when a skydiver tries to land in a specific area, a long stretch of water called a swoop pond. It’s a lot harder than it sounds as participants have to control their canopy at speeds up to a hundred miles per hour after they leave the plane. The contestants are then scored based on speed, zone accuracy and distance. Then, there is a freestyle round where they are judged on technical difficulty, presentation and landing.

Back in the 2017 World Games, Curt placed second in the Canopy diving competion and Jeannie landed twelfth place for herself. Even more special, the event happened to take place on the couple’s fourth wedding anniversary. Historically, the two were the first couple to compete together in canopy piloting at The World Games.
