If you’ve been keeping up with news around the Greater Birmingham Area, you probably know Trussville is seeing tons of action thanks to its ever-growing Entertainment District. Here’s a look at what’s newly opened, what’s in the works and what’s coming soon to the area.
1. Pinchgut Pies
Newly opened in the Trussville Entertainment District is Pinchgut Pies.
Brand new to the food scene, the eatery is making its mark on locals with its tasty pizzas and brews and eclectic atmosphere.
I can vouch for this place. When you eat here, you won’t have to worry about doughy, undercooked ‘za, because Pinchgut serves up REAL pizza. The kind that offers the perfect combo of crispy, chewy perfection.
We polled locals on their favorite pie from Pinchgut Pies. Which pizza won? The Chicken Pesto. The Pepperoni came in second place with the Gator Bait close behind in third.
2. Mexicali Blues
If you’re in the mood for upscale Mexican cuisine with a fun atmosphere, Mexicali Blues is the place for you. The restaurant has a prime spot in the Trussville Entertainment District with a private event space/VIP room upstairs that overlooks that Trussville stage.
Top menu picks:
- Chili Relleno: beer-battered poblano pepper, cauliflower picadillo, oaxaca, asadero, manchego + salsa roja
- Chonzo Tacos: house chorizo, pico de gallo, crema, cotija + cilantro
- Flan de Mango: mango custard with caramel
3. Wing It On!
Not being much of a wing fan, I suggested Bham Now’s photographer, Jacob Blankenship, check out this new spot in Trussville and report back to me with his findings. As a huge wing fan, he happily took the bait. Here’s what he had to say:
“I ordered the Classic Wings with the Nashville Hot signature sauce and the Kick’n Cajun Waffle Fries. Both were definitely worth the trip. What I thought was cool was how many signature spices they offer for wings and fries.”Jacob Blankenship, Photographer, Bham Now
I may not be a wing fan, but those fries sure do look delicious.
4. City Bowls
After an outpouring of support and love from the Trussville community, City Bowls will soon set up shop in the new stores that recently popped up on Main Street. Expect all the açaí, pity and green bowls you can handle!
Opening Date: TBD
5. Planet Smoothie
Planet Smoothie soon moves into the space next door to Cookie Dough Magic in the Trussville Entertainment District. Give ’em a try for a real fruit smoothie that’ll always hit the spot.
Opening Date: TBD
6. Rodney Scott’s
Been wishing Rodney Scott’s would finally show some building progress in Trussville? Well, it’s finally happening. A ride down Main Street will reveal construction on Rodney Scott’s all-new building is quickly gaining momentum.
Stay tuned for the opening date, we’ll definitely be there.
7. Five Guys
I know what you’re thinking… wasn’t Trussville already home to a Five Guys? The answer—yes, it was. Formerly a resident of The Pinnacle, the restaurant will soon head to a new location in the former Zoe’s Kitchen at Hampstead Village.
Who’s ready to have their mountainous piles of fries back in Trussville?
