In the news: Birmingham’s Dr. Virginia Campbell named in National Podcaster Hall of Fame

UAB is making the news again. Former professor Dr. Virginia Campbell was recently recognized in Podcast Movement’s National Podcaster Hall of Fame. Keep reading to learn more about Dr. Campbell and her nationally known podcast!

Dr. Virginia Campbell

Dr. Campbell’s background is an important part of her success as a science communicator. Before she went to medical school, she studied electrical and biomedical engineering. She was chosen as one of 40 Engineers Making a Difference at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2011, where she continued on to become an assistant professor from 1985-1989.

Dr. Campbell later completed her medical training and spent over 20 years as an emergency physician in rural Alabama. She returned to UAB in 2014 to do a fellowship in Palliative Medicine.

She now practices Palliative Medicine at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Birmingham, AL, where she teaches residents, fellows and medical students. She has done it all!
