One Birmingham native’s experience with CORE

Meet Breanna Green, who recently completed the CORE program. (Breanna Green)

I had the opportunity to speak with Breanna Green, a Birmingham native and current Alabama A&M student who just completed the CORE program. Though she had some previous industry experience, she feels that the course is an incredible opportunity for students honing in on their career path.

She shared that it was, “like a Commercial Real Estate 101” course, and offered valuable exposure in all areas of the industry, while providing practical job pathways in each sector.

“I love what the CORE program stands for—it aims to diversify the real estate industry and I think that’s something that definitely needs to happen. In a past internship, as great as it was, I was the only person there that looked like me. It adds an intimidating factor to the job, and I spoke with some other African-American real estate professionals that have experienced the same thing. So, I think it’s important that we let Black kids know that they have these career opportunities at their disposal, thanks to programs like CORE.”
