Make way—Dawn Patrol is coming through
Local bike shop, Cahaba Cycles is making way for Dawn Patrol. According to the Birmingham Business Journal, local coffee company Domestique plans to open its third brick-and-mortar location this month at Cahaba Cycles in Homewood.
Domestique is a local coffee company that provides high quality, fair-trade coffee that is Haitian born. Its name refers to a road bicycle racer who works for the benefit of his team and team leader by taking the brunt of the wind force and/or provide their teammate with hydration or food during a race.
This project is a part of Shannon Waltchack’s redevelopment of the former Jim & Jim’s Auto Shop. In addition, Capital Program Management LLC is handling the build out of Dawn Patrol.
New place, new offerings
Get ready for new interesting menu items. Domestique Coffee plans to gradually expand its food items at the new location with more healthy options, according to the Birmingham Business Journal. The owners will begin with serving coffee then add menu items found at their Panache location in Southside.
Eventually, they plan to add breakfast burritos and other protein-packed items to their full menu.
Why Cahaba Cycles?
According to their website, Domestique Coffee is built on the idea of serving customers and helping them win their “race” on a daily basis—similar to the role of the reference term. What better place for their new location than a bike shop? The co-owner says that this location is tailored to cyclist enthusiasts who are visiting the Cahaba Cycles location.
The company also sponsors professional cyclists who compete and represent the brand around the world.
