If you’ve never been to an ASO concert, you’re in for a treat during Cheers! The New Year’s Eve Concert on December 31 at 6PM. This annual concert filled with holiday favorites features a stunning repertoire that will make you want to get up to dance and sway in the aisles—but maybe save dancing for when you get home!

During the concert, ASO’s Music Director Carlos Izcaray takes to the podium to lead ASO’s talented musicians in a variety of dance-inspired works from around the globe—each hand-selected special by Izcaray. You’ll hear a familiar selection of Johann Strauss II along with 19th century Viennese symphonic music like waltzes, polkas and quadrilles (square dances).

Bonus: there will be champagne, so you can toast to the New Years in style. 🥂Plus, the concert ends early enough so you can still enjoy a night on the town afterwards.

“Anybody who grows up all their life in orchestral culture knows that tradition plays an important part of what we do. I really look forward to performing that marvelous repertoire with our world class orchestra. I’m equally excited about bringing dance repertoire from other parts of the globe. We citizens of the New World also know how to make an orchestra dance and cheer!”

Carlos Izcaray, Music Director, Alabama Symphony Orchestra
