Who needs Milan Fashion Week when you can hit Haute Pink right here in Bham? Happening on Thursday, October 14, the event supports the incredible work being done at Forge, and will feature refreshments from local favorites like Sol y Luna, Tre Luna and more.

Here are all the important details:

Meet the models

At Haute Pink, you’ll see some powerful models strutting down the runway. The showcase highlights 10 of Forge’s clients and volunteers who are living with breast cancer.

October is breast cancer awareness month, and we can’t wait to cheer these ladies on as they strut their stuff. Be on the lookout for Carolyn, a Birmingham transplant from Colorado who has found a piece of home and community at Forge.

“I was officially diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in June of 2021, and have been involved with Forge ever since my diagnosis.

I am not only excited to participate in the Fashion Show, because of my love for fashion and specifically Runway, but also I am so excited to support Forge! This group has done so much for me, and I could not be more thankful and appreciative. We are in it together, never alone.”

The Haute Pink design process

The models have teamed up with 10 local designers to get dressed to the nines. I caught up with designer Garland Jackson who is thrilled to be a part of this special project to honor one of his childhood friends, a breast cancer survivor.

He explained that meeting his model, Carolyn, and understanding her story was an essential piece of the design process. He wouldn’t give too much away before the big reveal, but he did let us know that his design is innovative and tells the complete story of living with breast cancer. We can’t wait to see Carolyn rock it!

All donations and ticket sales will go straight to supporting Forge. If you’re unfamiliar, allow me to introduce them…

Forge is a community with holistic support in all stages of breast cancer. From the point of initial diagnosis, Forge is there—creating a survivorship plan, offering free mental health counseling, providing transportation resources for medical appointments and, of course, making room for a little fun and fellowship along the way.

“One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in Alabama—that’s over 300,000 women. Forge is here to support all of them, from the day they receive their diagnosis through the rest of their lives.

We hope you will join us to celebrate and honor your own journey, a loved one’s journey, or these 10 women who show us it is possible to not just survive but thrive after a breast cancer diagnosis.”

—Lauren Roberts, Executive Director, Forge Breast Cancer Survivor Center
