Since 2012, generous sponsorship and volunteers from the Junior League of Birmingham (JLB) have expanded the Teen Leadership Program. Their support means new access to pivotal tools for career and college readiness to all girls in our community.

This can make an incredible difference in a woman’s life and career trajectory, just ask Ashley Newton. As a Girls Inc. alumni and JLB volunteer, she has seen the impact of the program first-hand.

“As a Girls Inc. alumni myself, I know how important it is to have connections and experiences that allow girls to see the world outside of their regular day-to-day life.”

ICYMI—Girls Inc.’s national organization was recently awarded a $10M grant for their new program, “Project Accelerate,” which will kick off in January 2022. Only seven lucky sites will pilot the revolutionary program and, you guessed it, Girls Inc. of Central Alabama is one of them.

The Teen Leadership Program is a feeder program for Project Accelerate, and a great way to get involved with Girls Inc. of Central Alabama.

“Teen Leadership is an awesome program. You’ll get a chance to learn from and interact with peers that may come from different backgrounds or look different from you. It will give you the opportunity to grow and prepare for life outside of high school.”

— Dominique Roller, Teen Leadership Program Manager, Girls Inc. of Central Alabama
