Hey hey, Birmingham. We’re welcoming a new week *and* a few new Birmingham businesses. This week, we’re headed outside of Birmingham’s city limits to check out what’s new in the Greater Birmingham Area. Keep reading to discover what’s headed to your neighborhood. Trust us, you don’t want to miss these.

1. Cajun Steamer | Cahaba Heights

This is making us miss all the crawfish boils of the spring. This new Birmingham opening has us so excited.

Calling all crawfish lovers! Cajun Steamer is bringing their fourth Alabama location right to Cahaba Heights in Market Square. Order crawfish to your heart’s delight or get creative with menu items such as the Voodoo Chicken or Crawfish Mac and Cheese. Can we get a “yum”?

This news is hot off the press, so no opening date has been set yet. Can’t wait for that Cajun flavor? Head to their other two new Birmingham locations in Hoover or Trussville to get excited for all the spice that Cajun Steamer is servin’ up in Cahaba Heights.

2. Purple Onion | Moody

For years, Purple Onion has existed as Birmingham’s late night Greek spot. Now, the fun of the Purple Onion has expanded to Moody. Get ready to chow down with menu items such as wraps, subs and some of the best sandwiches around.

The Purple Onion has served Birmingham for over 30 years starting with only 15 menu items. Now, with five locations and over 100 menu items, they are expanding east to serve the Moody and Trussville community. Their drive-through is open now, so consider your lunch plans this week made.

3. Basecamp Fitness | Cahaba Heights

Cajun Steamer isn’t the only new addition to Cahaba Heights. Basecamp is changing up the fitness game with classes that are that perfect balance of cardio and weight training.

With their slogan being “Fitness for the fierce hearted” this 35-minute workout is no joke, but we can’t wait to try. Even better—each Basecamp franchise is locally owned.

Fun fact: the founder of Basecamp Fitness, also the founder of Zappos.com, took a mixed martial arts fighter’s workout and added the energy and community aspects to create the concept that is Basecamp.

4. O’Henry’s Coffee in former Chelsea Coffeehouse

Get excited! Chelsea Coffeehouse will live on under the O’Henry’s logo. Previously using O’Henry’s products, Chelsea Coffeehouse will continue to serve a great cup of coffee and a smile as it will be business as usual—just under a new name. Six of the team members are continuing to work under O’Henry’s, and the move just seemed right according to previous owners—Jeff and Rhona Gross.

If you haven’t stopped in under the O’Henry’s management, now is the perfect time to do so. O’Henry’s serves up a killer cup of coffee with the yummiest pastries to match.

I believe that’s all this week, Birmingham! For more buzzy opening news, follow us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok.
