Why did you decide to pursue an MBA?

Kim: “In addition to my work for Southern Company, I run a real estate business with my husband where we buy & renovate fixer-upper homes in Birmingham. When we started this real estate endeavor, I decided that an MBA would be a boon for both my entrepreneurial, small business side and my professional work in my day job.”

How did you land on Auburn for your Master of Business Administration?

Kim: “I wanted to diversify my educational background, and my brother had already gone to Auburn for grad school. So I did a bit of research and saw that Auburn’s MBA program was highly rated. Plus, Auburn’s program was a better value to me than other schools.”

Clearly, you have a lot to juggle. Has Auburn’s Online MBA been easy to work into your schedule?

Kim: “For me, Auburn’s Online MBA gives me a ton of flexibility. Between my day job and my real estate business, meetings can come out of nowhere. With the Online MBA, I can stay on top of my curriculum while managing my day-to-day responsibilities.”

What are your takeaways from the Online MBA?

Kim: “Since my background is very technical—lots of engineering, science and math—I didn’t have an appreciation for the impact of marketing. Auburn’s Online MBA has opened my eyes to the importance of understanding your brand and knowing how to market yourself. It’s been a very enlightening program for me.”
