1. Sage Bar & Grill
According to the Shelby County Reporter, Calera is getting a new spot that’ll give people the best of both worlds. Sage Bar & Grill will be a family restaurant as well as a late-night spot with live entertainment. As a family restaurant during the day, visitors can expect Southern food with an upscale twist. As a late-night spot, visitors can expect live music, entertainment and even a late-night menu starting at 10PM.
Although, there’s no official opening date, they’re aiming for July 2021.

2. Ferus on 41st
In April, we announced the addition of Ferus Artisan Ales in Avondale. The brewery first opened in Trussville in October 2019 and is ready to expand. As if we weren’t already excited, Ferus on 41st released a look at their plans and we couldn’t help but share.

3. Cat-n-Bird Winery expansion
Cheers! Cat-n-Bird Winery is planning to expand their operations and add to its winery grounds. The Shelby County winery’s growth gives us the perfect excuse to plan a trip.
As calls for reservations for weddings and private events continue to soar, owner, Matt Lyons, decided that it’s time to expand. Lyons plans to add a pavilion large enough to seat 175 guests.
4. Greater Birmingham Humane Society
Earlier this week, we shared that the Greater Birmingham Humane Society (GBHS) is planning to build a new state of the art campus on Lakeshore Parkway. Located along Sydney Drive and Lucrene Lane, GBHS and the Jefferson County Commission are working to acquire several adjacent lots from U.S. Steel to build a new animal impoundment center, adoption center and animal hospital. The proposed campus totals approximately 16 acres.
