Trunks up Birmingham! Avondale Brewing Company has nearly tripled the size of its taproom and has plans for a new sour room space and green room for performers.

Earlier this week, Bham Now was given a tour of the popular brewery’s new renovations.

Read on to see what’s coming.

Expanded Taproom

If you ever visited  Avondale’s taproom before they started reworking the space this past summer, it was quaint, but quite small. The reason? They were using about 1/3  to 1/2 of the taproom making the beer right in front of you. Remember seeing these tanks at the north end of the room?

As you can see they have now moved the on-site beer making operations to the back of the property. This has freed up space, making the taproom a lot more spacious.

In fact, according to Taylor Lander, Avondale’s director of Marketing and Events the old taproom previously had a seating capacity of 49 customers. Today’s new taproom capacity can allow nearly triple the number  of craft beer connoisseurs  depending on the COVID rules, of course.

Quite honestly, there is a lot more elbow room too.

Along with the taproom,  Avondale is building a new sour room and green room for their performers. They also will be adding a place to prepare and serve food.

“We want to make this a one stop shop for all things fun. Come here, eat, drink, hangout and have a variety of things to pick from, the music, and watch sporting events,” said Taylor.
