Nutrition, wellness and yummy. Check out these new openings in Bham
From much-anticipated openings at The Summit that’ll have you drooling to new health and wellness additions to the area, here’s the weekly rundown of what’s new in the Magic City.
1. Gardendale Nutrition
Gardendale recently welcomed a new nutrition store on February 12. Gardendale Nutrition makes being healthy easy and delicious with menu items like:
- Juices
- Teas
- Smoothies
- Meal replacement shakes
- Coffees
- And more!
Gardendale Nutrition joins other nutrition stores popping up around the city, including Neighborhood Nutrition in Homewood and, my personal fave, Magic City Nutrition at The Battery.
2. CreACTive Wellness Center
CreACTive Wellness opened February 14 in Alabaster and is one of Shelby County’s newest wellness centers. After a year like 2020, the timing couldn’t be better. CreACTive offers a bit of everything, including:
- Physical fitness space
- Yoga space
- Restaurant area with health food
- Massage therapy
- Reiki
After your time on the yoga mat, you can enjoy their tea garden—a space dedicated to live music and other events coming up in the future.

3. Chopt
It’s the week that Alabama finally welcomes its first Chopt restaurant to The Summit. On Wednesday, February 24, Chopt will be celebrating its grand opening. As is custom with each new restaurant opening, the restaurant is giving back with 100% of sales being donated to the Exceptional Foundation the day before the grand opening.
The farm-to-fast-casual restaurant is sure to be a hit with healthy options like creative salads, wraps and warm bowls.
4. North Italia
Mark your calendars because yet another new addition is being added to The Summit. North Italia will debut its first Alabama location on March 3 with its grand opening.
North Italia is a modern Italian neighborhood restaurant. They’ll bring made-from-scratch Italian favorites to The Summit all week long, serving lunch and dinner seven days a week. You can expect flavorful dishes, pizzas and pasta on the menu, as well as a wide assortment of wines, beer and house-made cocktails.
