Did you know that certain demographics are less likely to get vaccinated due to inequity and biases in the medical sector? Miles College has begun a unique partnership with #NOWINCLUDED, powered by Acclinate, to tackle the issue of equity in COVID-19 vaccinations and clinical research trials. Keep reading to learn more about this important initiative.
What is #NOWINCLUDED?
Say hello to the movement with the mission to build a community that’s ready to take control of their health and future, brought to you by the start-up Acclinate. It’s no secret that there are healthcare disparities for people of color, but #NOWINCLUDED is dedicated to encouraging a diverse population to be included in medical research in order to have results that reflect and protect all people.

Miles College making moves once again
Earlier this year, we announced that Miles College was receiving $2M from IBM, that they’re teaming up with Apple for a community center for coding and partnering with a new global HBCU for innovation. Now there’s a new partnership in town.
The partnership between Miles College and Acclinate’s #NOWINCLUDED movement is the first of its kind with a goal to help students and faculty make informed decisions about their health. The hope, that individuals will take their new knowledge home and into their communities to help spread awareness about the importance of getting vaccinated.
“Our partnership with Miles is right on target for what we’d like to see happening with minority students throughout the nation. The sooner we can help them prioritize their health, the better their lives will be beyond college and well into adulthood. This will not only help them but also their future families.”
Tiffany Whitlow, Co-Founder, Acclinate
#NOWINCLUDED will be hosting bi-weekly virtual workshops and discussing topics like:
- Residential learning while living during COVID-19
- Building online learning communities
- Maintaining academic as well as emotional health during COVID-19
“Partnerships like Acclinate are vital to our institution, and we look forward to educating our students on the role they can play to mitigate the gulf between research and cure within the African American community.”
Bobbie Knight, President, Miles College
We’re excited for Miles College and for this important topic to be addressed. Students and faculty will be asked to participate in pre- and post-surveys to capture the results of the #NOWINCLUDED workshops as well as better understand their knowledge regarding COVID-19.
