Iron City could be the perfect venue for your private event
Did you know that Iron City has been a Birmingham staple for nearly 8 years? Since it first opened in 2013, Iron City has hosted some amazing acts—from Neutral Milk Hotel to Mac Miller, and from Gregg Allman to DJ Snoopadelic (Snoop Dogg) himself. In fact, Iron City was recently listed as one of the “50 Amazing Small Music Venues Across the US” by Vivid Seats and Yelp! With a record like that, it’s no surprise that Iron City is one of Birmingham’s favorite spots for live music.
But Iron City isn’t only a small music venue. In addition to the ever-pleasing Iron City Grill (with a brand new menu!), Iron City offers its services to anyone looking to host a private event in The Magic City. That’s right—by hosting a private event at Iron City, you have access to a suite of professional audio & video equipment, an entire kitchen in-house and sooo much more. I spoke with Phoebe Hurst, the Private Events Manager at Iron City, to learn more.

What type of private events does Iron City typically host?
Phoebe: “Although we primarily host wedding ceremonies & receptions, we also have a lot of corporate events, award ceremonies, proms, birthday parties, rehearsal parties and more. It’s really up to the client! Since we have access to the main event venue as well as Iron City Grill, we can host any sized party—small or large.”
What are some of the perks of hosting a party at Iron City?
Phoebe: “In my opinion, one of the biggest perks of Iron City is that all of our catering and bar service is offered in-house. With other venues, you’ll need to bring in outside catering and beverage services, which involve getting liquor licenses and more. It’s a lot of things to organize! In addition, our chef is absolutely incredible. Our catering menu is 14 pages, so you have a ton of options to choose from.
I also want to brag about our venue. It’s very industrial, which is definitely in style. And obviously, since we are a music venue our audio & video equipment is top notch.”
Okay, I’m sold! How do I host a private event at Iron City?
Phoebe: “First, reach out via email to either myself (phoebe@ironcitybham.com) or the assistant manager, Kendall Nolan (kendall@ironcitybham.com). From there, we’ll figure out your needs from the event and get an idea on how you envision the event turning out! Then, Kendall and I will work on finding vendors for your needs outside of what Iron City can provide. At Iron City, we act as coordinators for all events—so from start to finish, we’re involved in all the small details to make sure your event turns out exactly as planned!”
After I spoke with Phoebe, I wanted to hear first-hand from someone who had hosted an event at Iron City. Enter Rhonda Lusco. Last year, Rhonda’s daughter Kristen married her husband at Iron City.
Why did you decide to host your daughter’s wedding at Iron City?
Rhonda: “My daughter is a local nurse, and she wanted her wedding to be young & trendy—so we landed on Iron City. We loved the venue, and she loved having her name on the marquee! Everyone has raved about how great the wedding was, so we are very happy with our choice.”
What was your favorite part about hosting a wedding at Iron City?
Rhonda: “Phoebe and Kendall were absolutely excellent to work with. They took all of the worrying off of our shoulders and made sure everything was coordinated to go on without a hitch. To me, as a working mother, that’s what I really appreciated. Plus, the food was outstanding! It could not have been a nicer event.”
