Let’s face it. We Birminghamians love to eat, and local businesses could really use our support right now. So why not get the best of both worlds during Birmingham Restaurant Week 2021 – Winter Edition, presented by Spire happening Thursday, Jan. 14 through Sunday, Jan. 31. That’s over two weeks of delicious deals and the perfect excuse to cross that new restaurant or bar you’ve been wanting to try off your bucket list.

A new year calls for a new line-up

We made it, y’all. 2020 was a doozy, but we’ve crossed the finish line to a brand new year. I don’t know about you, but my New Year’s resolution is to try new things, especially if it involves food. That’s exactly what Birmingham Restaurant Week (BRW) is planning to do with its new additions to the restaurant lineup.

“As we enter into the winter months, these local restaurants need our support more than ever. With plenty of curbside and to-go options available, this winter’s event will be a great example of how we can continue to move forward and get through this—together”.

Joe Hampton, president of Spire Alabama, Gulf Coast and Mississippi

BRW whipped up a new recipe that now includes coffee shops, bars and food trucks to this year’s participating list of over 50 local vendors. Here’s how it’s going down.

18 days, but countless food experiences

For 18 days, participating Birmingham restaurants will be cooking up incredible deals with chef and bartender-inspired dishes and drinks. Don’t worry about tickets. All you need is an empty stomach and a taste for something local.

From the Birmingham metro to its surrounding neighborhoods, you can enjoy prix-fixe menus all day from breakfast, lunch and dinner options ranging between $5 and $50 for single or family-style meals. You can choose to-go, curbside pickup or dine-in with restaurants’ safety precautions, of course.

BRW already did the hard work for you to make selecting your next meal easier. Head to their website and use the search filter powered by Bham Now to find that meal or cocktail you’ll be dreaming about for the rest of the week.

Need some ideas? Your fellow foodie’s got your back

What do you want to eat? This may be one of the hardest questions, especially in my household. From restaurants to bars, food trucks and everything in between, it can be difficult choosing where to start, so let me try to make things easier for you with some deals we just can’t refuse.

But first―breakfast

Let’s kick off the day at Filter Coffee Parlor in Five Points South.

Lunch is the perfect excuse to take a break from pretending to work

We’re heading over to Tortugas in Parkside for a slice of heaven otherwise known as Chicago-style pizza.

$10 Lunch menu, includes:

  • Drink of your choice
  • Choose between a salad as your appetizer
  • Single slice of deep dish pizza

If deep dish pizza doesn’t fit into your New Year’s resolutions to become healthier, I really am sorry. That’s a bummer, but there’s tons of more health-conscious options like Blueroot.
