A new mixed-use housing development may be in the works for the City of Hoover. Here’s what to know about the proposal.

The Location

The mixed-use housing development will be located just off Highway 150 in Hoover in the Lake Cyprus and Ross Bridge area and will be led by Signature Homes.

The development was originally planned for Trigger Creek on Hoover’s far west side, but changed to ensure better access to police and fire rescue.

What exactly will the mixed-use housing development include?

According to City Council Member Mike Shaw who spoke with WVTM13, the development will feature residential, retail, commercial and office space. In fact, the development could become the new spot for more than 2,000 new homes in Hoover.

The Decision

According to a press statement released by the City of Hoover, there are several steps to be taken:

  1. The project must go through the City of Hoover Planning and Zoning Commission.
  2. The first presentation is expected to take place this month, followed by a vote in February.
  3. If the proposal is passed by the City of Hoover Planning and Zoning Commission, the Hoover City Council will make the final decision, which could be as early as March.

The City of Hoover also noted in their press statement that “The project will be evaluated based on its impact and potential advantages to not just the City of Hoover, but also to the Hoover City School System.”
