Y’all know we love hearing about all that’s happening in Birmingham’s food scene. Today we’ve got a reopening, a new location and an opening for you. Keep reading for all the deets.

1. EATS Highland reopens tomorrow, October 30

Have you been missing EATS Highland’s Southern Soul & Latin flavor?

Good news—they’re back, for lunch only.

This Friday, October 30, they’ll be open from 11AM-2PM. On Saturday, they’ll be open from 11AM-3PM. Next Tuesday, they’ll start the regular lunchtime hours listed below.

For now, they’ve got 15 tables’ worth of outside seating in part of a parking lot and on part of the sidewalk. They’ll have outdoor seating only until they feel it is appropriate to bring people inside for spaced-out indoor seating.

According to Wendy Cruse, you can expect the same basic menu with some seasonal adjustments.

2. Beehive Baking Company is getting their own space in Irondale by mid-November

If you haven’t sampled some of Beehive Baking Co.’s wares yet, you’re definitely missing out. Photos via Beehive Baking Company’s Facebook page

Last week, my husband ordered the “challaween” challah from Beehive Baking Company and now I’m a big fan. We were both excited to find out that by mid-November, they’ll have their own brick-and-mortar shop in the Old Irondale Market space on 1st Avenue South.

Here are some of the things you’ll be able to get at their new shop:

  • garden-inspired wild yeast sourdoughs
  • artisan breads (French brioche, anyone?)
  • traditional braided challah (yum)
  • seasonally-influenced baked goods & desserts
  • sweet & savory scones
  • hand pies
  • cakes + cookies
  • vegan + allergen-friendly items
  • custom, hand-crafted products
  • Location: 1st Avenue North, Irondale (follow on social for exact location)
  • Hours: TBD
