We dare to defend our rivers!
For years, this has been the motto of the Birmingham-based Alabama Rivers Alliance (ARA). In fact, you can probably visit their office downtown across from the Cathedral Church of the Advent and purchase a koozie, bumper sticker or t-shirt.
Well, now you can buy a new session IPA called “River Defender” beer thanks to Red Clay Brewery out of Opelika.
Cindy Lowry, Executive Director at ARA recently announced:
“We are so excited about this partnership with Red Clay Brewing Company and are thrilled to see this beer rolling out across the state. We all know you need clean water for good beer, and the folks at Red Clay Brewing Company truly understand that connection. This low alcohol session IPA is perfect for those days spent in the rivers and streams across Alabama.”
Presently, the beer can be found ON TAP in Birmingham at the Piggly Wiggly on Clairmont,Carrigans Beer Garden, Hop City, The Lumbar and Saw’s Juke Joint.
Additional locations will be added.
About the Beer
For all you beer aficionados – here are the details:
Style: Session IPA | ABV: 4%
Ingredients: Carafoam, 2 Row, Munich malts. Magnum, Cascade, Citra, Mosaic hops.
Flavor: The low alcohol content of this IPA makes it easy drinking if all you need is a short session of enjoying beer. Herbal and resinous aromas tickle your nose while, upon drinking, strong floral notes present first with a lasting spice taste at the end.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of River Defender beer does go to ARA. Now, that’s a great excuse to buy one tonight!
