We just got word yesterday that J Wings’ owner Jay Williams and partner Chuy Mendez (you may know him from The Louis or Unos Tacos) have just signed a lease on a stall at The Pizitz Food Hall. If you’re already hungry just thinking about it, you’ll have to wait 30-40 days for them to get everything set, including Health Department approval. But we know it’ll be worth the wait.

J Wings is known for all kinds of fancy wing flavors

If you’ve ever been to J Wings at their Fultondale, Bessemer or 5 Points West locations, or ever stopped by their food truck, you may have tried their wings in some of these flavors:

  • They’ve got mild, hot + fiery wings.
  • There’s honey wings (hot or mild), honey mustard (hot or mild) + honey BBQ.
  • You can also get Cajun ranch, regular ranch + lemon pepper.
  • Let’s not forget the sweet and sour, country fried + Jamaican jerk wings.

Meaning, there is definitely something for every wing-lover at J Wings—even boneless wings. We have no idea if they’ll have all these flavors at The Pizitz, but it’s fun to dream.

If wings aren’t your jam, you’ll find plenty of other tasty food at J Wings at the Pizitz Food Hall

Their menu will be a little different at this location from what you might be used to. Here’s what you can look forward to, in addition to wings:

  • Chicken tenders
  • Chicken sandwiches (fried, spicy or grilled—whatever suits your fancy)
  • Chicken + waffles
  • Chicken Philly sandwich
  • Boneless wings salad
  • Grilled / friend chicken salad

Plus all the tasty fried sides you can imagine, from French fries (regular, ranch or cheese, to be exact) to fried okra. Yum. And pass the ketchup, please.

Also, they’ll have fried green tomatoes, cole slaw and potato salad.

Once they open, J Wings will be in great company at The Pizitz Food Hall

Back in June, we wrote about how The Pizitz Food Hall was open again for dine-in service. Whether you stop by The Louis Bar for a drink, meet up with a friend for some lunch outside or just stop by for pie, you’ve got plenty of options to choose from.

J Wings will round out the offerings for all the tasty food you can get when you’re in the area, whether you’re working upstairs at Forge, checking out some of the murals downtown, or taking a break from your workday nearby.

Follow them on Instagram so you know when they’re ready to open their doors. We’ll be there—will you?

Now tell us, Birmingham, what are you most excited to try at J Wings, when they open up at The Pizitz in about a month? Tag us on social @bhamnow and let us know!
