5 restaurants expanding in Birmingham including Eugene’s Hot Chicken

There’s never a dull moment when it comes to the Birmingham foodie scene. Here’s what restaurants have recently opened their doors and others coming soon.

1. Eugene’s Hot Chicken

Are you feelin’ hot, hot, hot? You will when you visit Eugene’s Hot Chicken’s newest location.

According to the restaurant’s Facebook page, they will soon be opening a new location in mid-October. Where? Near the ABC Store on Galleria Circle in Hoover.

If you aren’t familiar with Eugene’s Hot Chicken, they sell a variety of chicken meals with sauces ranging from no-heat “Southern” to bold and daring “Stupid Hot.”

Some popular choices include:

• Jumbo Chicken Tenders
• Hot Chicken Po-boy
• Chicken & Waffles

Sides like fries, coleslaw and collard greens are available, too.

2. Taco Mama

Holy guacamole! Taco Mama has opened yet another location in the Greater Birmingham area. Taco ’bout awesome.

On August 24, the restaurant opened in Hoover’s Trace Crossings Stadium—and it’s just what the tummy ordered.

In usual Taco Mama style, the new location features:

• A festive interior and exterior patio
• A laid-back atmosphere
• Mexican favorites like tacos, quesadillas, burrito bowls and hand-shaken margaritas

3. The Juicy Seafood

Love seafood? Then tie on that lobster bib and visit Irondale’s newest restaurant, The Juicy Seafood.

Dive into the menu for a variety of Cajun-style dishes like:

• Crab legs
• Lobster tail
• Oysters
• Mussels

Blue crab is in season right now, so be sure to grab it while you can.

4. The Purple Onion

The Purple Onion is a local deli and grill that’s been serving authentic Mediterranean cuisine to the Greater Birmingham area since 1991.

In May, we filled you in on the restaurants plans to add four new locations to Birmingham and its surrounding area. The newest spot is in Lakeview and is in the final stages of preparing for the grand opening.

When can you check it out? According to the restaurant, there is a tentative plan to open in September, but an exact date is still up in the air.

5. Cinnaholic

Craving dessert? Problem solved! Cinnaholic is hosting their grand opening on Friday, September 25 at their brand-new location in Hoover. Awe, yeah!
