Reading time: 4 minutes
You thought Birmingham baseball was canceled this year? Think again! Beginning this weekend, Regions Field opens up the stadium for their new summer series. Keep reading to find out what they have in store for fun-filled summer weekends.
I don’t know about you, but I sure do miss warm summer nights spent watching a ball game. Now that Major League Baseball has announced their plan to play for the 2020 season, summer’s starting to look somewhat “normal” again.
Starting Friday, June 26th, Regions Field is bringing baseball back to Birmingham with their 2020 Summer Series and that’s not all. Every weekend during the summer, the Barons will host special events. After collaborating with the Jefferson County Health Department, here’s a rundown of what’s in store.
Thursdays are for baseball + bingo
This year, Thursday nights are dedicated to the over 35 Birmingham Metro Baseball League. In addition to the Barons’ SwitchYard and bingo games, you’ll be able to catch a game starting July 9th. Here’s what the Thursday night schedule is looking like:
- Thursday, July 9th at 6PM
- Thursday, July 16th at 6PM
- Thursday, July 23rd at 6PM
The Birmingham Metro Baseball League is ecstatic to be part of saving baseball in Birmingham this summer. Our teams consisting of ex-pros and past/current college players are poised to put on a great show!

Fridays are for baseball + a post-game fireworks show you don’t want to miss
Starting June 26th, you’ll be able to catch those Friday night games we’ve missed oh-so-dearly. Every Friday until August, the under 35 Birmingham Metro Baseball League are on deck to take to the yard.
The best part? The games are free! Just make sure you pick up tickets the day prior to the game at Regions Field’s box office. Due to limited capacity in the stadium, it’s first come first served. Here’s the under 35 league game schedule:
- Friday, June 26th @ 7:05PM
- Thursday, July 2nd (with Post-Game Fireworks Show) @ 6PM
- Friday, July 10th @ 7:05PM
- Friday, July 17th @ 7:05PM
- Friday, July 24th @ 7:05PM
- Friday, July 31th @ 7:05PM
- Friday, August 7th @ 7:05PM
Saturday Cinemas
Starting June 27th, the Barons are hosting Babe Ruff’s Saturday Cinema. Sit on the field or grab a seat and catch a movie on the stadium’s big screen.
They’re offering three pacakages for their movie nights. Whether you want a front row spot on the field with bottomless popcorn or just want to keep things lowkey in the general admission seats, there’s something for everyone. Here’s the lineup:
- Aladdin – Saturday, June 27th @ 7:15PM
- Toy Story 4 – Friday, July 3rd (with Post-Movie Fireworks Show) @ 7:15 PM
- Harry Potter: The Sorcerer’s Stone – Saturday, July 11th @ 7:15PM
- Star Wars: The Last Jedi – Saturday, July 18th @ 7:15PM
- Field of Dreams – Saturday, August 1st @ 7:15PM
