Mark’s Outdoors, which recently celebrated their 40th Anniversary, is hosting their 3rd annual Take a Kid Fishing Day, starting at 9AM on June 20, to encourage parents and children to share the love of the outdoors. Plus, they’re giving away a rod & reel combo to the first 200 kids in the door.

Mark Whitlock, Jr. launched the first Take a Kid Fishing Day back in 2018. His goal? To encourage parents to purposefully find time to enjoy the great outdoors with their children. In today’s fast-paced world, stepping back and enjoying the little things takes some effort, but it is entirely worth it.

At the first Take a Kid Fishing Day, Mark’s Outdoors started with 100 rod & reel combos and gave them all away within four hours. Last year, their 150 rod & reels were claimed in an hour. This year, Mark’s Outdoors has 200—but be sure to show up on time!

In addition, the Kona Ice Truck will be serving up some delicious shaved ice—for FREE—from 8AM to 11:30AM outside of Mark’s.

Mark’s Outdoors is committed to encouraging parents and their children to spend time together—that’s why they’re giving away a FREE rod & reel combo to the first 200 children (under the age of 16) that visit the shop on Saturday, June 20.

However, Mark’s Outdoors has one catch: if you end up with one of the rod & reels, you have you go fishing as soon as possible.

“We don’t make a cent from this event. If I can make a single lasting memory with a parent and their child, I will consider it all a success. The very best thing someone can do is send me a picture of a fish they caught with our rod and reel combo.”
