Cinco de Mayo is just around the corner and we’re already drooling. Get the scoop on Cinco specials from Unos Tacos, a new restaurant that opened in The Pizitz Food Hall last month. Spoiler Alert: Taco platters and margarita kits will be up for grabs. *chef’s kiss*

Unos Tacos is bringing even more flavor to The Pizitz Food Hall 🌮

You’ve probably seen the name Unos Tacos on social media or maybe even in one of our recent guides. The eatery opened in The Pizitz Food Hall last month at the onset of the COVID-19 crisis and since has become a local favorite for curbside pickup.

Their menu is constantly evolving, but the staples include fresh tacos, burritos, nachos and bowls with a variety of options like beef, chicken, and vegetarian specialty entrees.

Chuy Mendez, who also manages The Louis Bar at The Pizitz, has had his hands full recently, as you can probably imagine. Keeping a restaurant and bar running during a pandemic doesn’t seem like an easy task, but Mendez and his team have taken it in stride. Instead of postponing the opening of Unos Tacos, he took the risk and went for it.

“The past month has been complete trial and error for me and Unos… I’ve been working hard for months trying to open and I wasn’t going to let a pandemic stop me from opening.

The city has shown up for me and everyone else doing curbside. So every day I’m motivated to keep our momentum going as I work toward building the Unos Brand for myself and the city.”

The Unos team is constantly working to make recipes efficient and consistent, and they are just getting started. You can expect to see more mouthwatering menu items added over the next few weeks.

“Working 12-hour shifts in a kitchen is well worth it for me and my family as we work towards building a food concept the Birmingham community can claim proudly as their own…

And I’m Chuy, I always have something up my sleeve. Expect to see more delicious treats on the menu soon!”
