Birmingham warming station opens Sunday evening at Boutwell Auditorium

According to a Facebook post by Don Lupo, director of the city of Birmingham’s Office of Citizen Assistance, Birmingham will be opening a warming station at Boutwell Auditorium on Sunday evening, January 19.

Cold Snap

The Boutwell warming station will remain open till Tuesday evening. The National Weather Service expects evening temps to fall hover around the low to mid 20s.

Donations welcome

Want to help out?

Beginning Sunday morning 10:00am, the City of Birmingham will be accepting washable blankets, toiletries, bottled water, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, individually wrapped snack items, oranges and bananas at Boutwell (1930 Rev. Abraham Woods Blvd).

Good Grit Magazine accepting donations too

Along with the city’s efforts, Good Grit Magazine has teamed up with Heart to Table – accepting donations throughout the month of January.  Their next drop-off date is January 21st.
