Are you looking for a wholesome, family-friendly way to spend the weekend before Thanksgiving? If so, consider attending the 10th Annual Kampfire for the King, benefitting King’s Home. You might even win a boat!
What is Kampfire for the King?
- When: Saturday, November 23rd from 8:30AM to 2:30PM
- Where: King’s Home Chelsea Campus – 221 King’s Home Drive, Chelsea, Alabama 35043
Kampfire for the King is an annual fundraiser benefitting King’s Home. While enjoying the event at King’s Home Chelsea Campus, guests help raise money to support the mission of King’s Home.
1. Test Your Skills at King’s Home First Annual Cornhole Tournament
- From 8:30 AM to 1:30PM
- All cornhole supplies will be supplied by the Central Alabama Cornhole Club.
- In order to participate, register your team before 8am on the day of the tournament.
- Registration fee is $40 per team. The top teams will get cash and donated prizes!
2. Tons of Fun for Kids
From 10AM to 2PM, there are a ton of opportunities for kids to have fun at the event. For instance:
- Face painting
- Inflatables
- Hay rides
- Playing with farm animals
In addition, the kids can learn fishing tips from Bass Pro Tour angler and 2014 Bassmaster Classic Champion, Randy Howell.
3. Grab a Bite With Miami Fusion Café
No event would be complete without one of Birmingham’s delicious food trucks! Miami Fusion Café‘s new food truck, El Conquistador, will serve up fusion dishes while playing authentic salsa music.
In addition to Miami Fusion Café, Lakesha Rodgers’ will be firing up her grill to feed the attendants of Kampfire for the King. Her delicious grilled steak with peppers and onions will have your mouth watering!
4. Listen to three unique Birmingham bands
From 10AM to 2PM, listen to music from three local bands:
- King’s Home Broken Angels Choir: The Broken Angels Youth Choir is composed of remarkable kids seeking refuge and healing at King’s Home and led by local musician Marc Philips.
- Jawbone Samson: Birmingham locals, Jawbone Samson is a Southern Rock Christian band with the goal of lifting up Jesus’ name with music.
- We Are Wolves: After participating in Mason Music’s Adult Rock Band League, We Are Wolves formed and began to arrange popular songs in an acoustic format.
5. Randy Howell Boat Giveaway
At 2PM, fishing star Randy Howell raffles away his bass fishing boat. If you’d like a chance to drive home with a new boat, simply make a $100 donation to King’s Home. The more donations you make, the more chances you have to win!
- Since 2011, Randy Howell’s Boat Giveaways have raised over a million dollars benefitting King’s Home.
- The boat is a 2019 Triton 21 TRX-Elite, with a retail value of over $85,000.
- Since the fundraiser started in 2011, nearly 4,000 donors from 49 states have participated.
Additionally, you don’t have to be present to win the boat. In order to participate in the giveaway, make your $100 donation and wait to hear back. The 2018 winner found out he won a boat while he was busy hunting!
Even if you don’t win the boat, you can still use your donations as a tax write-off. It is a win-win!
