Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama (RMHCA) partner with the local community and McDonald’s to create change for families facing childhood illness. Here are 3 ways you can support RMHCA on the Day of Change, Friday, October 18th.

What is Day of Change?

Day of Change began as a commemoration of the very first Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia in 1974. Over time, Day of Change has evolved into a celebration of how Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama partner with the local community and McDonald’s to create change for families facing childhood illness.

Ronald McDonald Houses provide a home for families traveling due to a child’s illness. Families that stay at a Ronald McDonald House do not pay a fee, and many of their daily expenses are taken care of. As a result, the families are able to focus on their child’s hospital stay.

Here are 3 ways you can support Ronald McDonald House Charities on Day of Change!

1) Sport the Day of Change t-shirt

2) Head to your local McDonald’s to support Day of Change

Let’s face it – carrying around spare change is a hassle. I know I have a ziplock bag FULL of pennies in my car just taking up space. So rather than carry around all that change, why not donate it to a good cause?

Although it might seem like your handful of spare change is not a lot, it really adds up. Last year, RMHCA raised more than $4,100 on Day of Change 2018!

  • You can drop off your change at any RMHCA donation box or Round-Up #forRMHC at participating McDonald’s.

…because the change adds up

The money raised truly supports a great cause. Just ask the Grayson family. Every three weeks, the Grayson family drives from Mobile to Birmingham for 16-year-old Jarvas Jr.’s care. Jarvas lives with sickle cell disease, diabetes and a vascular disorder called Moyamoya disease. Although the hospital visits are tiring, the Ronald McDonald House gives the Grayson family a place to stay and rest during the visits.

“I’m always really tired after going to my doctor’s appointments. Being here means I can rest.”

Jarvas Grayson, Jr.
