Drum roll please……For the first time in history, all six of Alabama’s Historically Black College (HBC) and University Marching Bands will face off in Birmingham’s Legion Field. Here’s why you don’t want to miss the Battle for Birmingham, Sunday, Sept. 15 4-8pm. Get tickets.
The Battle for Birmingham
Marching bands from each of Alabama’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities will compete in Legion Field for the Battle for Birmingham. We are talking top notch entertainment, ladies and gentlemen.
Undoubtedly, these bands are among the best of the best in the nation. Additionally, the event is hosted by none other than Rickey Smiley of The Rickey Smiley Morning Show!
The bands
The following marching bands will compete at Legion Field:
- Alabama A&M University Marching Maroon & White
- Alabama State University Mighty Marching Hornets
- Birmingham’s own Miles College Purple Marching Machine
- Stillman College Pride of the South Marching Band
- Talladega College Great Tornado Band
- Tuskegee University Marching Pipers
In addition to the colleges, seven Birmingham City Public High School Bands will participate including;
- Carver High
- Parker High
- Wenonah High
- Jackson-Olin High
- Woodlawn High
- Huffman High and
- Ramsay High
Bonus! Prospective students can learn about applying to a school and obtaining financial aid. Come out at 2pm before the show to speak with representatives from all six collegiate institutions!
