Hey party people! Fall will be in Birmingham before you know it. Not soon enough, I might add. That means football parties, holiday parties and family get-togethers. Why not hire one of Birmingham’s wonderful caterers so you can sit back and enjoy the party? We’ve put together a handy-dandy guide to some of Birmingham’s top catering services including the recently announced Hastings Catering.

Table and Thyme

Table and Thyme is one of Birmingham’s newest catering services. Founder Thomas Cox previously launched MealFit, a catering service designed around healthy eating. After catering events for his friends and family, Thomas Cox decided to expand his culinary talents to the public. Table and Thyme serves a 50-mile radius in Birmingham and follows MealFit’s passion for healthy, quality dining.

Hastings Catering

There is another new catering service in Birmingham owned by experienced culinary professionals. Along with catering director Katie Wilson, Chef Chris Hastings and his wife Idie recently founded Hastings Catering after years of consideration. The Hastings’ have been in Birmingham’s high-end dining scene since 1995, with their restaurants Hot and Hot Fish Club and Ovenbird. Unlike most catering services, Hastings does not have a set menu. Instead, they customize the menu based on the client’s desires and what’s in season.

Shindigs

Shindigs, headed by Chef Mac Russell, started out as a food truck and catering business. Due to Chef Russell’s upbringing on the family ranch, Shindigs’ menu items are always prepared fresh and with local ingredients. Shindig’s finds most of their ingredients at local farms, including their own farm in Marion Junction.

Ashley Mac’s

Ashley Mac’s is a caterer, bakery, and café with locations in Cahaba Heights, Homewood, Inverness, and Riverchase. The catering service offers healthy homestyle dishes, ranging from salads and sandwiches to poppyseed chicken and bistro steak with potatoes. Owner Ashley McMakin recently shared her top three tips with Bham Now on getting through the back-to-school season.

Olexa’s

Diane Olexa has been creating homestyle catering dishes in Birmingham since 1996. In addition, she opened Olexa’s Café, Cakes and Catering, nestled in Mountain Brook Village, in 2004. Olexa’s catering offers homemade quiche, soups, salads, and panini sandwiches. But, don’t forget dessert! For example, try the butter creme cakes or warm white chocolate chunk bread pudding.

Olexa’s specializes in wedding & occasion cakes!
