Earlier this week, Bham Now was given a special tour of this cutting edge eco-friendly market.

The new store, located at 1000 Jemison Lane (accessible via 2500 Montevallo Road or 2732 Lane Park Road), is owned and operated by Lakeland, Fla.-based Publix Super Markets, Inc. To date, Publix has opened just two other GreenWise Market stores in Florida and South Carolina.

GreenWise Market replaces Lane Parke’s Western Market, which Publix acquired earlier this year after Western Supermarkets closed all its stores. The 28,680+ square-foot space will offer a large variety of organic, specialty and traditional grocery items, bulk foods, and an expanded wine and craft beer department.  The market also includes a 100-seat café and bar.

The new GreenWise Market will serve as a new anchor tenant for Lane Parke, a 28-acre mixed-use development which includes upscale boutiques, fine casual restaurants, a coffee shop, a pilates studio, Regions Bank, the Grand Bohemian Hotel and Lane Parke Apartments.

Developed alongside the Birmingham Botanical Gardens and near the Birmingham Zoo, the entire area is fast becoming a tourism and retail destination for locals and visitors from out of town alike.

Welcome to the Neighborhood Discounts

One added bonus: Several Lane Parke retailers are offering GreenWise shoppers limited-time discounts during their new neighbor’s opening week. A’mano Gifts and B. Prince will both offer 20% off all purchases storewide on opening day. Other retailers like Annabelle’s Southern Boutique will offer discounts to shoppers presenting GreenWise purchase receipts.
