Love the large size of suburban housing, but crave the upbeat vibe of a bustling city? H2 Real Estate has exactly what you desire—Avenue A townhomes. Here’s an inside look at this brand new development that’s bringing urban luxury to downtown Birmingham.

Urban Meets Luxury

If you live in the ‘burbs, the houses are typically larger, but farther from city events. If you live in the city, you are closer to what’s happening, but your dwelling often shrinks to the size of a shoebox. Do you opt for space or location?

Turns out, you don’t have to choose, because Avenue A is changing things up by making it possible to live downtown in the heart of the city without having to give up any space.

“This area of town was in need of more residential options. The Rotary Trail brings a lot of foot traffic to the neighborhood but the only available living space offers limited square footage. Avenue A introduces a new style of living to the downtown market in an area lacking residential opportunities.”

Nequette Architecture and Design has been working with H2 Real Estate and The Dobbins Group on the development of Avenue A.

“Our goal with Avenue A is to bring private, urban townhouse living to downtown Birmingham,” said Louis Nequette, owner of Nequette Architecture and Design.

What does this mean exactly? More space and luxury in the heart of the Magic City.

Avenue A will include 28 luxury townhomes, each featuring:

  • 2-3 bedroom layouts
  • Private, attached garage parking
  • Rooftop decks

Those who buy a townhome at Avenue A are given a pretty amazing perk—the option to increase their space by adding spare bedrooms, additional living space and more.

“The interiors are designed to offer the luxuries and amenities typically found in the modern single family house, with large open kitchens and living rooms, spacious master suites and garages for weatherproof parking and storage,” said Nequette.

Well, I’m swooning. How about you?

Being able to be part of the design of your very own townhome also means it will be a truly unique space. No cookie-cutter townhomes here!

Incredible Views

While you are atop Avenue A’s private rooftop decks, you’ll be blown away by the expansive view of Birmingham’s skyline to the North and you will have a perfect view of Vulcan’s 4th of July fireworks to the south. Located along the Rotary Trail, you’ll also be awarded an added touch of nature that will beckon you out for an easy stroll down to Railroad Park.

Speaking of greenery, Avenue A also has 2 community courtyards that keep the beauty of the outdoors at hand.

Psst! There’s a really cool mural wall right next door too.

Cool Architecture

Birmingham is full of great architecture—both old and new. Avenue A will bring a mixture of both to 1st Avenue North.

According to Nequette, ”The Architecture is urban industrial with a connection to the masonry buildings that have lined the Birmingham railroad corridor for a century.”

In keeping with the old industrial buildings, Avenue A will be flooded with natural light, which will make its interior feel open and airy. It will also further enhance that great view of downtown I previously mentioned. Sounds like a home saved to my Pinterest board that I daydream about on the reg.

“As we were designing this urban community, we spent a lot of time determining what type of living was missing downtown to continue to improve the urban residential landscape in Birmingham. What we determined is that there needed to be more of a transitional product. Moving from a suburban home to an urban flat is a drastic change, but from that home to a townhome that offers secure, private parking, private outdoor space, and convenient access to urban amenities is not such a stretch.”
