Enjoy an night of talent American Idol style while supporting homeless animals during the 12th annual Croonin’ For Critters event.

Hosted by Tommy Spina, Birmingham Professionals will hit the stage to perform a song accompanied by the Robbins-Morton Orchestra. Each performance will be critiqued by celebrity judges—Pam Huff, Bruce Ayers and Ona Watson.

At the end of the night, audience members will get o cast their votes for their favorite singer(s) through $1 donations. 

The performer with the most votes will be named Birmingham’s Critter Idol 2019. A separate award will also be given to the most talented Critter Idol 2019.  

Proceeds from the event benefit the 41st annual Do Dah Day happening May 18 at Birmingham’s Rhodes Park.

Pell City Animal Shelter will be hosting a pet adoption event at The Shops of Grand River. Just a short ride from Birmingham in Leeds, you’ll have the chance to give a sweet pet a forever home. 

After you’ve taken he steps to adopt your new furry friend, be sure to stop by Tools and More with your pet in tow and receive a FREE gift.

The 4th annual Fido Fest is almost here and dogs around Birmingham are howling in excitement. And so are their owners! Who wouldn’t want to spend an afternoon celebrating some of Birmingham’s sweetest four-legged friends? 

During the event there will be variety of entertainment with:

  • Live music from local duo Cheyloe and Zach
  • Complimentary balloon twisting
  • Face painting
  • Pet caricatures from local artists

There will also be tons of vendors, such as:

  • Frutta Bowls

Looking to support a local animal organization? On April 4, venture over to Avondale Brewing Company for Paws on the Patio benefitting Hand in Paw—a nonprofit organization in Birmingham that works with professionally-trained teams of handlers and their animals to help improve people’s day-to-day lives at numerous facilities throughout Central Alabama.

Grab a beer, purchase a treat or two for your dog from FETCH, the treat truck for dogs and enjoy some tunes from Ice Station Zebra. A portion of the proceeds raised during the event will go to this beloved organization.

National Pet Day falls on April 11. Celebrate it with the Greater Birmingham Humane Society’s Young Professionals Sips for Strays events. Taking place at Freddy’s Wine Bar, this event features:

  • Adorable adoptable pets
  • A whole lot of wine
  • A Raffle (wouldn’t you love to win a basket of wine and a $25 gift card to Freddy’s?)

The GBHS will receive 10% of all sales during the event.

If you’ve never experienced Do Dah Day, now is the time to start. This year will be the 41st annual event and it is one festival you’ll definitely want to be part of.

Held at Rhodes Park in Birmingham’s Southside, Do Dah Day is a cherished springtime event—and one of the city’s oldest festivals.

It features:

  • A huge dog parade with floats, costumes and more
