Registration is now open for the first-ever Indy 5k race Friday, April 5 at the 10th annual Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama. If you’d like to get up close and personal with IndyCar drivers, this is a great chance to do just that! Several drivers plan to lace up their running shoes after racing Friday to take part in the 5k on Barber Motorsports Track.

Think running through the 2.38-mile course looks like a breeze? Think again! The track has 17 turns and 80 feet of elevation change— so it’ll be a definite challenge. The 5k race will take runners through the winding track just after racing concludes for the day.

The Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama presented by AmFirst is the third racing event of the season leading up to to the Indianapolis 500. The track is said to be the best on the circuit and is hailed as “the Augusta National of Motorsports”.

Indy 5k Race Details
The Indy 5k is a chip timed race with hydration stations provided by Powerade along the course. After the race, a special social hour will take place with complimentary adult beverages and light fare along with door prizes including two Saturday tickets to Cocina at the Track. Trackside
