Guide to 8 live music venues in Birmingham and 17 shows to see this March including Kacey Musgraves at the Alabama Theatre
Reading time: 6 minutes
I’m a concert junkie and always up for a last minute show, but for those of you who like to plan ahead, we’ve done the work for you! Here’s your guide to music in the Magic City for March 1-31. Time to get off that winter sofa and have some fun.
BJCC
Some mainstream artists are visiting Birmingham this month, and two of them will be playing at The Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex! Located downtown with their own Uptown Entertainment District next door, there’s really no shortage for things to do before or after a show at the BJCC. Eat at Cantina Laredo or grab a coffee (or cocktail) from Octane Coffee + Bar.
Iron City
Personally, Iron City is one of my favorite venues. It’s big enough so there’s plenty of places to get a good view, but small enough so the shows always feel intimate. I’ve seen multiple artists here, and I’ve always enjoyed it. Right around the corner is the Iron City Grill, so you can make dinner plans before the show! Their March lineup is pretty good—get tickets while you still can. Pro tip: keep an eye on our Instagram for future Iron City giveaways!

Located in the heart of downtown, the theatre hosts everything from live music to classic movies and even ballets. Seeing a show here is almost like a right of passage for Birminghamians. Mark your calendars because some really great acts will be stopping through in March.

The Spring Street Firehouse
This DIY live music venue is a cool find in Bham. It’s tucked away on the bottom floor of a two-story building in Avondale, and full of character. Expect a lot of rock ’n’ roll and a crowded room at the Firehouse. Check out DIY Birmingham for upcoming shows.
