Vestavia Hills grad to be featured on American Idol premiere March 3

We’ve got another star on the rise, Birmingham! Walker Burroughs, a recent Vestavia Hills High School grad, will represent the ‘ham on season seventeen of American Idol. You can catch the singer/songwriter on the season premiere Sunday, March 3!
Did you see Walker onscreen during the Oscars on Sunday, February 24? During a commercial break, he was featured in the nationally aired American Idol season teaser, wearing a yellow jacket and playing the keyboard. You can watch the video he posted on his Instagram last night below:
Walker, who graduated
This won’t be Walker’s first time in the National Spotlight. He was featured on ABC World News Tonight with David Muir after his creative Vestavia Hills promposal performance went viral in 2017*.
American Idol Season Seventeen
The seventeenth season of the televised singing competition will premiere Sunday, March 3 at 7 PM on ABC. This season’s judges include Katy Perry, Lionel Richie
The season seventeen finale will (tentatively) air May 20, 2019. W
Burroughs joins a long list of Alabamians to make to the televised portion of the show. Past winners include Birmingham native Ruben Studdard, who won season two of American Idol. Since then, Studdard has gone on to release seven studio albums, one of which went platinum.
Three years later, Birmingham’s Taylor Hicks won season five in 2006. Since his big win, the blues-rock singer has played with the likes of Umphrey’s McGee, Tom Petty, Widespread Panic, Snoop Dogg, James Brown
