Hilton Hotels and Resorts returns to Birmingham at UAB

Renovations have officially wrapped up at Hilton Birmingham at UAB. Here’s a look at what’s new. 

How it Happened

So here’s how the renovations came about.

In November of 2016, the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel Birmingham was purchased by the UAB Education Foundation. In March 2018, reservations on the hotel officially began.

The plan: to transform the hotel from top-to-bottom with a multi-million dollar renovation.

Originally a DoubleTree by Hilton property, the renovations have transformed it into a Hilton Hotels and Resorts hotel—and it’s pretty upscale!

“The transformation has been extraordinary,” Lisa Castagna, general manager, Hilton Birmingham at UAB said. “It’s been a strategic, collaborative effort between Hilton and UAB to create this flagship Hilton property in the heart of the college campus.”

Here are some of the highlights you’ll find in the newly-renovated Hilton Birmingham at UAB:

Upgraded Common Areas

The lobby of Hilton Hotel at UAB shows off new, original artwork and updated seating, tables, lighting and a sundries shop.

A new Connectivity Station has also been added, which provides complimentary workstations equipped with Wi-Fi enabled computers, printers and ergonomic seating. Oh yes!

Guest corridors and public areas were also upgraded with new wall coverings, detailed crown moulding and refinished guest room entry doors.

New Guest Rooms

Guest rooms and suites at Hilton Birmingham at UAB were also paid special attention during the renovation. Each of the 295 guest rooms now offer:

• Floor-to-ceiling windows
• King or two Queen beds
• Mini-refrigerators
• Safes
• Multiple USB charging ports
• Custom stone desks

It’s all about the views in Birmingham, so now the hotel’s top floor features guest rooms with full balconies! Who wouldn’t want an incredible view of Birmingham’s downtown skyline?

All guest bathrooms now feature a new, modern design, too.

New Dining Options

What’s also exciting about the renovations to Hilton Birmingham at UAB is its inclusion of two new dining options—The Lab Bar and Kitchen and The Lab Market Cafe.

The Lab Bar and Kitchen is a southern-inspired, locally-sourced bar and kitchen that serves local craft beers, specialty cocktails and a full menu. Read more about it.

The Lab Market Cafe (scheduled to open in January 2019) will serve customers on the go with season, locally-sourced pastries and prepared foods.

Guests can also order-in room service through the hotel’s Fresh Connection takeout and delivery service.
