1. A Clear Vision
Keeping a business afloat for more than one generation is a testament of success, no matter what you’re selling. For 25 years, Curt Morris, along with his brother Brian and his father Bill have grown their business from one small showcase store to six locations of La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries.
“From the very beginning we wanted to grow the company,” said Bill Morris. “We took the opportunity that was available to us at the time.”
They chose to stay committed to an American brand—one that makes furniture using American craftsmanship and high-quality materials.
2. It’s A Family Affair
Successful families in business know that establishing a sense of purpose is key to longevity. Those core values are what helps a company grow—and not just financially. At La-Z-Boy, it’s about building a strong culture, both at home and at work. For them it’s more than just stationary furnishings, decor and that iconic recliner. It’s about making people comfortable.
Every time you kick back into your favorite chair, you’re reminded of the folks at La-Z-Boy, who don’t stop until your house feels like home.
Live life comfortably! It’s their motto!
“People might think we’re just a big corporation with no personality, but that’s not it,” Curt said. “We’re local owners who have gained a family of employees over the years. They go the extra mile, every time and that’s the difference.”
3. Dedication To Birmingham
Those company values also extend to the city the Morris family calls home. Giving back to Birmingham keeps La-Z-Boy connected to the people who have supported their business for 25 years, and for them, it’s a way to say thank you.
Morris’ team at La-Z-Boy cooks meals for the families at the Ronald McDonald House once a month, and the company donates furniture, too. Last year the team donated over 80 pieces furniture, including all of the sofas, tables, chairs and rugs to furnish the house’s new wing.
“We are humbled to be honored as the partner of the year for the Ronald McDonald House,”Curt said. We so much appreciate the local support.”
