Labor Day Weekend is just around the corner. Here are some of the cool events taking place around the Magic City.
Labor Day Brunch Crawl
During the event, fill your belly with lots of delicious brunch bites and drinks, while strolling to some of the best bars and restaurants in Birmingham’s Lakeview District. (FYI alert! This event is for those 21 and over. Sorry younglings!)

- Sky Castle – 12pm-4pm
- Tin Roof – 2pm-8pm
- Bird’s Bar and Pizza – 12pm-4pm
- SideBar – 2pm-5pm
- Innisfree Irish Pub – 4pm-8pm
When: Sept. 1 from 12pm-8pm
Where: Birmingham Lakeview District
Cost: $15. Price will rise as event approaches. Buy tickets.
Tickets include:
- Signature bar crawl cup
- Welcome drink at registration
- Map of food/drink specials in Lakeview
- Food/drink specials at numerous bars in Lakeview
- Festival music at participating establishment
Registration is required! Find it at Moe’s Original Bar and BBQ from 12pm-3pm (no later!) to gain access to specials and a signature cup.
CACAO Annual Labor Day Picnic
Prepare for an afternoon of fun at the CACAO Annual Labor Day Picnic in Avondale Park. Make new friends, listen to music, play some games and be sure to bring a dish to share.
FYI—No alcohol is allowed in Avondale Park for prepare for a straight-edge gathering.
When: Sept. 1 from 12pm-6pm

iPUSH Foodie and Music Festival
It’s time to indulge in the dopest Foodie Festival to ever hit the Magic City—the iPush Foodie Music Festival.
During the event, downtown Ensley will be transformed into a street-style block party food truck brigade featuring:
- Exciting entertainment
- Good eats
- Artistic treats
- Live hip-hop and R&B performances
This event is for ages 21+ so be sure to leave the kiddos at home.
When: Sept. 2 from 2pm-8pm
Where: 321 19th St. Ensley
Cost: GA – $10; VIP Status – $35 (VIP access includes festival entry, access to VIP Day Party, free food, free alcoholic beverages, VIP access to “How To” classes and more!)
McCalla Labor Day Celebration
Nothing beats a day at the park! Head to Avondale Park for the CACAO Annual Labor Day Picnic for an afternoon of fun, music, games and surprises.
Be sure to bring a dish to share with others because this celebration is pot-luck style!
When: Sept. 1 from 12pm-6pm

Pre-Labor Day Blues Party
Food and drinks, music and football. Sounds like a good time!
During the Pre-Labor Day Blues Party, check out performances by Mose Stovall and Ms. Aretta, plus great food and drink specials.
Be sure to head to the patio to keep tabs on the score during the Alabama vs. Louisville football game.
When: Sept. 1 at 8pm; Sept 2 at 2pm

Cost: $10 in advance/$20 at door

The Stolen Faces at Avondale Brewing Co
Are you a Dead Head? Then check out The Stolen Faces playing the songs of the Grateful Dead during Labor Day Weekend. All ages welcome!
When: Sept. 2. Doors open at 6pm. Music starts at 7pm.

32nd Annual Labor Day Festival
Our Lady of Lourdes-Birmingham is keeping their Labor Day tradition alive with their 32nd Annual Labor Day Festival. During the event, enjoy:
- BBQ

- Arts and Crafts
- Country Store
- Silent Auction
When: Sept. 3 from 9am-4pm

Volunteer Labor Day Weekend Clean and Plant Garden Event
If you’re looking to put your green thumb to good use, head to Books, Beans and Candles to help clean up and plant in the garden. Those who volunteer get hot dogs!
Be sure to bring your gardening gloves!
