3 reasons to get excited about tailgating at UAB football games

The UAB football program made its much anticipated comeback last year after a two year hiatus, and they came back with a vengeance.

After no expectation for a successful comeback season, the Blazers shocked its fans and finished their year with an 8-5 record and a bowl game appearance. Birmingham is amped to see what they do next, and UAB is ready to accommodate all its new fans. UABsports.com recently reported several enhancements they’ve planned for the upcoming home gamedays.

Food Trucks Galore 

Why does a meal taste so much better when its served from a truck? We don’t know either, but UAB understands us. They’re celebrating the first home game of the year with Blazer Gameday Food Truck Rally on Thursday, August 30th, from 3-7. Partnered with the Birmingham Food Truck Coalition, the Blazer Gameday Food Truck Rally will host 10 locally owned food trucks serving at the first game. The trucks will rotate throughout the season, but the first lineup is set to feature some favorites, like Heavenly Donuts, Eugene’s Hot Chicken, City Bowls, I Love Bacon and more. And what pairs with food truck fare better than a refreshing local craft beer? Nothing, that’s what. You can find a craft beer tent next to the rally, too. located next to Blazer Village. 

After the first game, expect to see one or two food trucks serving your pregame meal at the beginning of each home game. 

Tailgate like royalty. 

Love tailgating, but hate all that manual labor that comes with it? Tailgate like a pro without lifting a finger with Gameday Done Right. This year, UAB will offer easy and upscale tailgating services for all 2018 home games. Let Gameday Done Right set up and break down all your tailgating tools, including satellite TV, catering and coolers. UAB Athletics is partnering with Buffalo Wild Wings to find the biggest Blazer in the tailgate scene, so get ready to put your gameface on. Each week, rotating judges will visit competing tailgaters to find the loudest, most decorated, enthusiastic, entertaining and FUN tailgates UAB has to offer. Prizes range from autographed footballs to some sweet Gameday Done Right setups. The winner will also be announced to the entire crowd on jumbotron at halftime–it’s time for you to claim your 15 minutes of fame!
