Film crews take over Birmingham September 24 for martial arts film ‘Embattled’ with Stephen Dorff

The Magic City will be taken over once again by film crews for the production of a new martial-arts film, “Embattled”.
The film, which is a production of Blitz Films and Straight Up Films, will shoot from Sept. 24 to Nov. 4. And the plot seems pretty interesting—especially to those of you who enjoy martial arts and ultimate fighting.
The Plot
“Embattled” will star Stephen Dorff who has appeared in “Blade” and season 3 of “True Detective”.
The film follows a high-school prodigy preparing for a fight with his father who is an ultimate fighting championship winner. Dorff will play the lead role of the father.

Who are the creatives behind the production of the film?
David McKenna (“American History X”, “Blow”) wrote the script and it will be directed by Nick Sarkisov (Blitz Films), Kate Cohen (Straight Up Films) and Scott Lastaiti.
Executive producers will be:
- Marisa Polvino
- Frank Ragen
- Sergey Sarkisov (Blitz Films)
Eryl Cochran (Blitz Films) will oversee production.

But “Embattled” isn’t the first movie to be filmed in the Magic City. No way, jose! Birmingham actually has a pretty lengthy history in the movie biz—especially in the past year when Film Birmingham officially took over the film scene in town in 2017.
Since then, Birmingham has received national attention from high-profile names such as John Travolta who was in town filming “Moose” and Aaron Eckhart who most recently wrapped up shooting downtown in June for the film “Live!”.
