Dining out with Comedienne Joy kicks off first food bus tour through Birmingham
Comedienne Joy is known for her work as a clean comedian, but did you know she also is a food vlogger with a TV show called Dining Out with Comedienne Joy? She began her TV show, when Joe Lockett of the Joe Lockett Radio Show mentioned to her that she should vlog about the restaurants she visits. She began the TV show last January and things have only taken off from there.
“When I’m not entertaining crowds from the stage, I’m entertaining through my TV food show, vlog and on social media: ‘Dining Out with Comedienne Joy,’ said Comedienne Joy. “I’ll review a meal in such detail that you’ll feel like dropping everything you are doing at that very moment just to drive on down to the restaurant to get your own plate. My buzz is positive and fun, which keeps people returning to my vlog time-after- time.”
She stated that her show is designed to feature the positive aspects of dining out in Birmingham. She also loves to feature quirky dining spots that are off the beaten path, food festivals and Alabama made products. Bham Now asked her what her favorite foods were and she said, chicken!!! fried, baked, broiled, BBQ and with gravy.
She added, “Once people got into the show, I would get emails and direct messages asking how they could eat where I eat, and that’s how I got the idea for the Eat, Drink, Ride Food Bus Tour.”
With the tour becoming a reality Nov. 16, you can now eat where she eats. Joy said that she is the first to offer a food bus tour through Birmingham. There will be two tours per month to Birmingham area restaurants where participants will get to sample small plates from six locally owned restaurants.

The tours are designed to be an intimate experience for the participants. Each tour will be limited to five to 15 people. Participants will sample food and three cocktails at five local Birmingham restaurants that Comedienne Joy is visiting. Each participant will leave the tour with an Alabama Made products goodie-bag with samples and restaurant coupons.
“I will give out a few Birmingham historical facts during each tour, but I am not a historian,” said Joy. “I am a comedian who’s passionate about the local food scene. So guests will be entertained and full at the end of the tour.”
The ‘Eat, Drink, Ride tour bus also is available for private and corporate tours. Joy did a soft launch of her tour with this feedback from a participant: “This tour was so fun. I was stuffed and didn’t have to drive. It was totally worth it. I can’t wait to go again!”
The cost for the local Birmingham Eat, Drink, Ride tour is $90. Birmingham restaurants highlighted on the tour include: Twisted Root Burger, Cajun Seafood House, JaWanda’s Sweet Potato Pie, Michael’s Restaurant Soho, Black Pearl Asian Cuisine and Little Savannah just to name a few.
Joy also plans to take her tour to statewide to other popular restaurants and venues like Wind Creek Casino, Ozan Winery and Kowlagia Restaurant.
