Reading time: 2 minutes
Bham Now is closely monitoring the National Weather Service -Birmingham Facebook page and local weather stations for updates on Hurricane Nate.
It does look like Birmingham and Central Alabama will experience some high wind gusts tomorrow once Hurricane Nate makes landfall, according to the NWS Birmingham maps.
The NWS Birmingham is encouraging people to prepare for high winds tomorrow. Here is their Saturday afternoon 3:30pm posting on preparing for Nate.
ATTENTION: Central AL, you still have time to prepare for Nate, but do it NOW! Winds will begin to pick up across the SW counties overnight, and then spread NE across the area thru the day Sunday. There are only some light showers on radar right now. Use this time to bring in or secure any loose/lightweight items in your yard or on your porch, before the heavier rain arrives later today.
Important Notes:
– Have more than 1 way to receive weather alerts.
– DO NOT rely solely on outdoor sirens for Tornado Warnings.
– Sub-severe winds (<60 mph) WILL bring down trees & power lines.
– Power outages are likely in areas with highest winds, more sporadic in other areas.
STAY WEATHER AWARE thru Sunday evening!!
