This week, Birmingham-based TrimTab Brewing Company  announced that they have entered into a partnership with Abita Brewing Company out of Abita Springs, Louisiana.

The partnership will expand TrimTab’s current capacity from brewing 30 barrels at a time to 300.

Along with the expansion announcement, TrimTab is premiering their first dual release and first bottle release – Affirmation Blanc & Noir – tonight at the TrimTab Brewery.

Harris Stewart, CEO of TrimTab made the following announcement on the Birmingham Craft Beers Drinkers Facebook page yesterday:

Hey everyone, wanted you to hear it from me first. We’re really excited about this news and believe its a great direction for TrimTab. It’s going to enable us to majorly grow our core brands and focus our facility on innovation.

The article (al.com)  mentions these points, but I want to be clear to reiterate a couple of things to the most ardent craft beer followers in our fair city:

1) We have not sold any equity or ownership interest to Abita. We are 100% independent.

2) We 100% control production and have analytics to make sure we are maintaining consistency.

3) This does not mean we are downsizing in any way in Birmingham. Quite the opposite. We are about to transform our facilities in BHM and take our brewery into some very exciting new directions. There will be several new announcements in the weeks ahead.

We’re excited to get that off on the right foot this Friday with our first dual release, and our first bottle release – Affirmation Blanc & Noir.

I want to thank everyone that has supported us and been part of the family. I could not be more excited to really unleash the creativity of our brewers and bring a much larger variety of TrimTab beers to you beautiful people.

Cheers y’all!

Good news all around. A tenfold expansion of TrimTab’s popular craft beers and a commitment to quality and the Magic City.
