Another week of events in the Magic City! This time, most of the live music is concentrated around SliceFest or other events. Maybe I just don’t like country music as much as other people. If you like country music, check out our full calendar of events here and see what tickles your fancy!
- Urban Cookhouse Farmers Market

Urban Cookhouse hosts a farmer’s market every Thursday at the Summit. But fresh, local produce isn’t the only draw. Urban Cookhouse also brings live music, so you can listen while you shop (or just listen)! Read more
Redemptive Cycles celebrates their fourth year in Birmingham! – via handsonbirmingham.org- Redemptive Cycles Community Dinner

Redemptive Cycles hosts their third annual Community Dinner this Thursday! Redemptive Cycles provides the Birmingham community with an incredible set of resources: know-how, education, even work-to-own bikes. Supporting this incredible group, the Community Dinner features tapas, beer, a silent auction, and most importantly, some of the coolest people in Birmingham! All proceeds from the silent auction will help the coolest bike shop in the South keep offering its services to everyone, regardless of socioeconomic status. Read more
- Art After 5 – Road Trip

Come out to the Birmingham Museum of Art for Art After 5! This series of events changes every time. Featured in tonight’s event are live music, a screening of “The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert,” a “road trip through the BMA” gallery tour, cocktails, a mini studio class, and small plates. - Benjamin Beilman Plays Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto
- June 2nd and 3rd, 8PM
The Alabama Symphony Orchestra hosts Benjamin Beilman, winner of the 2010 Montreal International Musical Competition, this Friday and Saturday. Don’t miss the chance to hear one of the most talented, if not the most talented, violinists of this generation! Read more
- I Am a Father 5K

Celebrate family, fatherhood, and fitness! The inaugural race organized by CAP (City Action Partnership) includes electronic chip tracking for accurate timing, warm-up with “The Guru of Abs” DaShaun Johnson, free health screenings, vendors, and live entertainment before and after the race! The race runs through downtown Birmingham, starting and finishing at Kelly Ingram Park. Awards include overall fastest male and female, plus a variety of age ranges, each with three awards each. It’s a lot of fun to just hang out in Avondale, but unless you’re planning to eat, drink, or there’s a concert, there might not be a lot of “events.” Avondale Park plans to fix that with a movie series!
