UAB Professor wins Smithsonian’s 2016 American Ingenuity Award

Officially joining the ranks of innovative Americans, associate professor Sarah Parcak of the Univeristy of Alabama at Birmingham will be honored by the Smithsonian Magazine in December. 

The archaeologist and Egyptologist is an expert in the field of remote sensing which she uses to create high-resolution imagery to find ancient sites around the world. Her innovative use of satellites is the reason she will be awarded one of the highest honor. 

With nine different categories for award presentation, past winners include Aziz Ansari, David Lynch, and the Founder of Amazon.com, Jeff Bezos.
